5/1/2012: United Way VITA program helps more central Iowans with tax returns; Thanks to the efforts of over 170 dedicated volunteers, United Way of Central Iowa’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) service filed 3,517 tax returns for lower-income central Iowans as of the April 17 federal deadline, a 22 percent increase over the prior year.
